Electronic Output Manager (EOM)

Electronic tools that efficiently route and print electronic documents can eliminate paperwork, thus reducing an organization's dependency on expensive outsourced forms and embossing equipment. Nevertheless, a complete shift towards electronic documents will not succeed unless electronic forms are efficiently organized. Just like with paper forms, electronic forms fall victim to poor storage techniques and improper version control.

Medirex's Electronic Output Manager (EOM) effectively organizes large volumes of electronic forms by providing a centralized storage for form designs and revisions. Forms management is structured by the key operations of the organization and forms are catalogued into an SQL database by name, department, form number and version number.

The EOM streamlines workflow by inserting patient demographic information and barcodes directly onto electronic forms. Clinical users are able to create forms with patient information, thus eliminating the need for plastic cards and pre-printed forms. Using the EOM, clinical users bring up patient information and merge it with electronic forms to print locally.

The EOM allows forms to display on screen with form fill. Electronic signatures can be inserted into the filled-in form for approval and the form can then be printed, e-mailed. faxed or stored to disk.

The EOM also logs all significant transactions between employee and patient data (PIPEDA/HIPAA), limits user access to the database based upon predefined rules, and provides a valuable backup in Patient Registration since the EOM is independent of the HIS.

The EOM solution integrates seamlessly with all HIS software provided by vendors such as SMS, MEDITECH, MediSolution, McKessonHBOC, Cerner, Eclipsys and HEALTHvision.
